TAPS Returns as Beneficiary of Armed Forces Cycling Classic Challenge Ride Participants encouraged to support TAPS through peer-to-peer fundraising efforts

ARLINGTON, VA, May 26, 2025 — The Amazon Armed Forces Cycling Classic (AFCC), presented by Events DC, is proud to continue its partnership with the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), marking the sixth consecutive year the nonprofit has been named the event’s official beneficiary.

“We are honored to once again participate in the Armed Forces Cycling Classic as this year’s beneficiary of the AFCC Challenge Ride,” said Bonnie Carroll, TAPS President and Founder and recipient of the 2015 Presidential Medal of Freedom. “Cyclists of all abilities can ride with Team TAPS, honor the memory of a fallen military hero, and help support our mission to care for all those grieving the death of a military loved one.”

TAPS is the nation’s leading nonprofit organization providing compassionate care and comprehensive support to families grieving the loss of a loved one who served in the Armed Forces. Since 1994, TAPS has served more than 130,000 surviving family members, casualty officers, and caregivers through a 24/7 helpline, casework assistance, unlimited grief counseling, and access to community-based care.

Since the partnership began, Challenge Ride participants and corporate teams have raised more than $200,000 to support TAPS’ critical mission. Participants in the 2025 Challenge Ride are invited to set up a personal fundraising page in support of TAPS. Riders who raise $200 or more will receive a limited-edition Team TAPS jersey. Fundraising pages can be created at team.taps.org/cyclingclassic.

This year’s Corporate Challenge is sponsored by Appian, with more than 30 teams expected to participate. All teams are encouraged to support TAPS, with special recognition given to the top fundraising team at the event. In 2024, American Systems claimed the top honor.

The Amazon Armed Forces Cycling Classic offers a weekend of thrilling cycling events for riders, racers, and fans throughout the Washington, DC region.
